Happy Memorial Day for all my fellow American veterans for this is truly our day!! A a Vietnam veteran, I have gone though the agony and danger of war and have truly learned what it means to put your life on the line with the bullets flying, with death and destruction all around you!! Think about what an average American veteran has gone through, going from an ordinary life to one of making life and death decisions that could cost themselves their own very lives and yet they willingly do it in the name of our American Democracy!!! Many of our American veterans have lost their lives in doing that service, but they have done it because without their sacrifice, our American would not continue to exist!! The most amazing thing about all of this is the fact that each generation in our long American history has had American veterans come forward and protect and defend our America with out being asked to put their lives on the line!!! Two other points about American veterans!! Union General Sherman during the Civil War put it best when he said that "war is hell", yet American veterans are still willing to go into conflicts knowing that it is "organized chaos mixed with organized confusion with the possibility of death being the outcome"!! The second point is that the unspoken motto of every American veteran is summed up in the simple bible verse of "no greater love has man for his fellow man than to lay down his life for that man" or woman!! So ,when ever you see an American veteran, slap him or her on the back and shake their hands and say, "thank you for a job well done for that is all they ask and nothing more"!!!......(Second blog at tumblr.com/commonman1)....
