Folks, it is as a slow day as far as news is concerned and after 13 years of doing this political commentary with this blog, I thought it might be a good idea to tell you who I am and what do I stand for politically!!! First of all, I am a Vietnam veteran having served served 396 days there having gone into Vietnam in May 1965 as one of the first units sent to Vietnam and while there I had a good education in the art of war for we were in the countryside based 4 months alone with no help before they did the big build up in Sept. 1965!!! While there I have been shot at with people attempting to kill me, I contracted a mild form of malaria from which I can never give blood, lost the tip of thumb, and was sprayed with Agent orange and the green insecticide which later in my life almost cost me my life!! I volunteered to stay one extra month in Vietnam because by doing so I got out of service 90 days early and got credit for 3 years of service!! After the war, I eventually ended up in the US Post Office where I served as a clerk and postmaster for almost 30 year and was a union leader for 32 years and retired from it in 2004!! I also was a Captain in the local Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and have been in over 2000 fires and 2000 accidents where I got awards for heroism and saved a number of lives in the process!!! One year and a half ago I contracted a ear infection which grew worse and since I had a 10% disability due to the loss of the tip of thumb the VA tried to cure me!! The infection spread in my ear and I loss all hearing in my right ear and the left ear went to 50% hearing loss!! The agent orange and green insecticide caught up with me finally and the VA refused to admit it!! They told me I may die from it and that if I did survive I may never walk again and I proved them wrong on both counts although I have to walk with a walker because my balance was affected!!! In spite of all of this I still love our America and everything that it stands for today!! I am a Independent voter and have been one for over 25 years registered as such!! I started this blog in 2005 to speak for those Independent voters in America who have no voice in either political party today and added the other blog tumblr.com/commonman1 in 2012 because there was so much news to cover!!! I use hell and damn when I get mad at what is going on and if I really get pissed off I will tell then to "put it where the sun does not shine"!! I am a moderate conservative but if either political party is wrong, I will tell them the hell why they are wrong and screw being politically correct!! I try to use plain old country common sense and a love of country sayings to guide my words!!! I am just an average American Independent voter wanting to be heard for the American people by the politicians in both parties!!
